Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Thank you so much to everyone who bought me a present! It was unexpected but greatly appreciated!  The cups and wine glass, the chocolates & homemade goodies (I think I will wait to start my healthy living kick until after  January 6th), the Tim's cards (which come in very handy when travelling 8 hours up north), the beautiful scarf,  the fuzzy slippers, the bathroom soap and lotion. Wow, I am truly blessed and really spoiled :) I hope the students liked their "reindeer or snowman" poop. When I saw that poem it made me laugh so hard that I knew I had to do that for our class.

If you have not already heard Mrs. Quast will be continuing to team teach with me in the new year. She will be teaching the students French, Social Studies and a math block!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Winter Break and I will see you on Monday, January 6th!

          Christmas Amalgamated Hamper: Our class and along with our buddies have sponsored a family and we are looking for food, toys, presents to fill our hamper. Our sponsored family consists of a mom and dad, 2 girls (aged 10 & 8) and 1 boy (aged 3).
For a magical Christmas dinner we are in need of the following:

Permission Slips

I sorry about the skating permission slip but it should say that we are going skating on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 27th from 12:45pm-2:30pm; parent drivers are required, and the forms need to be returned ASAP.

For Harper Mountain forms need to be returned by Dec. 6th and if at this time you are unable to pay the money just get the forms in and pay in January prior to the ski date.

Sorry I was away yesterday, it's report card season!!!!! Ugh, yippee, so many emotions rolled into one. On Monday, every student was given a print out of their marks for the subjects I teach. They have until this Friday to turn in any overdue assignments. After that sorry.

Tomorrow is Black and Purple Day! Tickets for the Menchies gift basket are going on until the end of the week; .50cents per ticket and it's a fundraiser for Ms. Saemerow's class.

The BLAZER'S ARE COMING!!!! Wear orange, white and blue! We made some pretty awesome "Bullas" today ask your child to tell you all about them.

For their Independent Novel Study (INS) students should be finished and have handed in all 3 JOURNAL RESPONSES and their VOCABULARY project.

Whew....Busy, Busy, Busy!

Well, parent-teacher interviews are over but if you did not get a chance to meet with us and you would like to do so please do not hesitate to e-mail or call me.

The BC Wildlife Park was a blast and the kids were wonderfully behaved. We learned a lot, not only about animals but also that I may need to invest in a digital watch :)!

On the test students must be able to answer the following questions (I will be looking for knowledge that we learned from our field trip):
 1. What are two adaptations of Grizzly Bears?
 2. What is an adaptation of all birds? Choose one of the birds of the prey we saw (Bald Eagle, Golden Eagle, Great Gray Owl) and identify an adaptation for that animal?
 3. Identify two adaptations of a cougar.

You can also ask your child what are 3 ways the BC Wildlife Park receive animals, and why should we never have a snake as a pet?

As you may have heard Mr. McVittie will be taking over duties as the principal for a bit therefore I will be teaching the class full time until he returns to the classroom.

Wednesday, October 16th

Being sick is HORRIBLE! Sorry I was away last week but I ended up with vertigo and the flu and it was horrible! Well I am back at it and a little behind...our year end trip is booked and we will be sending home information concerning it very soon...Harper Mountain information will also be going home soon...

* Tomorrow the students have French due as well as a French quiz on the numbers, colours, months, and days of the week
* BC Wildlife Park Permission slip went home today and I am looking for some drivers. We will be going on the 24th which is the 1/2 day. We will be touring the park, having an animal encounter as well as riding the train. We are also going to have a small lunch there as we do have to be back at the school by 12:30pm for the buses.
 * Sign-up for parent teacher interviews went home yesterday, we will be doing an online sign-up, if you need any help please do not hesitate to e-mail me cdross@sd73.bc.ca or call me at the school so I can help you (the address is confusing but it's really easy to sign-up for your time) 

Monday, October 7th

Today was an excellent day! We had our first volleyball lesson, we finished up our discussion on STRESS (how to avoid and manage it). We began our study on Vincent van Gogh and the students have begun to create a beautiful sunflower picture. Lastly, we finished off the day by working on our Community Mapping project which is a group project that is due this FRIDAY, October 11th.
