PERSONAL EQUIPMENT LIST
When choosing clothing, please keep in mind that the McQueen Lake centres are at a higher elevation than Kamloops (1000 m or 3000 ft) so the temperature will be cooler. It is still common to see students under dressed for damp or cooler conditions. Students should not bring candy, gum, radios, or electronic games.
CLOTHING - Light jacket or shell and a lightweight sweater/sweatshirt.
Long pants with preference to athletic pant style made of nylon or polyester, etc.
Poncho or rainwear – at the very least their leaders should have some garbage bags to provide emergency ponchos.
Footwear: Runners with socks are good enough but no open-toe footwear.
Sunscreen (on in the morning is good enough) and hat.
EQUIPMENT - Bag lunch– no candy, gum, or junk food please. Please do not eat as you travel. Eat at designated areas only so garbage and scent can be controlled.
Insect repellent - late May-July is the worst – non aerosol to keep it out of lungs in a group setting. - Cameras and binoculars – optional - at owner’s risk.
Water bottle - Pack sack to carry water bottle, lunch etc.
Pencil
Friendly Reminders Please do not let students eat as they walk along the trails. Any food or food wrappers will attract animals, such as bears, to the day-centres.
Please ensure that you have a current and updated map from the McQueen website: www.mcqueenlake.com
